TRUTH BY EMILY KROL

Gazing at the darkened sky,

the twinkle of the night.
Defeated by the blur of tears,
the scream of city lights.

Truth, I find,
is hard to discern.
Does it sparkle?
Does it burn?

It singes my heart
with each promise that's spoken.
I know, that in lies,
there's another heart broken.

A weightless moment slips away
in the gravity of time.
It fades away with each tick of the clock,
it's gone in the blink of an eye.

Trusting people to tell the truth;
It's hard, but I have to try.
I can't decide which is harder to bear;
Reality, or a lie?
